Shanghai’s Rectification of the Construction Market Enters Second Phase: Nine Inspection Teams Dispatched to Conduct Spot Checks at Construction Sites

Shanghai’s crackdown on the construction market has entered its second phase, with nine inspection teams dispatched across the city to conduct spot checks on the self-inspections conducted by each district and county in the previous phase.
On the 11th and 13th of this month, the author accompanied inspection teams to conduct spot checks at construction sites in Pudong New Area and Xuhui District, respectively. In the first half of this year, Pudong New Area imposed administrative penalties in a total of 195 cases, issued more than 500 corrective action notices covering safety, quality, materials, design management, and other areas, and held talks with over 50 relevant enterprises. In Xuhui District, nine notices for rectifying quality hazards in construction projects were issued, one order suspending construction due to quality issues was issued, 20 notices for rectifying safety hazards in construction projects were issued, and three orders suspending construction due to safety hazards were issued.
