The Shangfangyuan Residential Project Wins the Second Prize in the 2020 Shanghai Municipal Outstanding Engineering Survey and Design Awards.

On December 16, 2020, the Second Session of the First Membership (Board) Conference of the Architectural Design Branch of the Shanghai Exploration and Design Industry Association was held at the BAC Zhuyuan Art Center, located at No. 407 Pudian Road. During the conference, awards were presented for the 2020 Shanghai Outstanding Exploration and Design Awards. Our institute Public Rental Housing Project for Plot West No. 8 in the Changfeng Ecological Business District Awarded the Second Prize in the Residential and Residential Community Category of the 2020 Shanghai Outstanding Engineering Survey and Design Awards.

Construction Site: Changfeng Ecological Business District, Putuo District, Shanghai, bounded by Danba Road to the east and Jinshajiang Road to the south.

Total floor area: 71,602.87 m², of which 52,625.57 m² is above ground and 18,977.30 m² is underground.

The entire residential complex consists of three 23-story high-rise public rental housing buildings, one 24-story high-rise public rental apartment building, one 7-story senior care facility, and a one-level underground parking garage.
The entire project has been awarded a Green Building One-Star rating, with the prefabricated construction accounting for approximately 25% of the gross floor area of Building No. 4, which is designated as public rental housing.

This project provides two vehicular access points: the main entrance, 11 meters wide, is located on Danba Road, while the secondary entrance, 7 meters wide, is situated on Jinshajiang Road. In addition, a 4-meter-wide pedestrian entrance is provided on Danba Road. The underground parking garage features two access points positioned close to the community’s main entrances to facilitate convenient entry and exit, thereby essentially achieving separation of pedestrian and vehicular traffic. The internal road network within the community primarily adopts a 4-meter-wide circular roadway system, with hedges used to delineate the public rental housing area from the senior care facility area. While maintaining overall unity, the design also incorporates subtle spatial divisions to create a tranquil and elegant community environment—a comprehensive, multi-generational community that serves residents of all ages.

A Sense of Flow and Holistic Unity—The streetfront is conceived as an integral design element, with ink-line contours evoking the fluidity of human movement through the city, while the rhythmic interplay of colors reflects the inclusive and eclectic spirit of Shanghai’s Haipai culture.

Freedom of expression and a sense of the times—contemporary minimalist design approaches that eschew intricate decorative moldings, representing a proactive exploration in the architectural treatment of residential facades as if they were public buildings.

Exterior finish materials: Public rental housing features dark gray true-stone paint and aluminum panel trims, complemented by water-based metallic paints in three shades—champagne gold, champagne silver, and silver gray—and black polished stone at the base. On the north side of the senior care facility, perforated aluminum panels are combined with gray aluminum panels. On the south side, horizontal, streamlined glass balustrades create a sense of fluidity and cohesion.

Vertical Greening Design—Vertical greenery platforms are strategically spaced along the exterior of the north-side skybridges connecting the four high-rise public rental housing buildings, injecting vibrancy and vitality into the sleek, metallic façade.
