Notice on the Selection and Commendation of the Ninth National Role Models of Morality

Since 2007, the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, the Office for Spiritual Civilization of the CPC Central Committee, the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, the Communist Youth League Central Committee, the All-China Women’s Federation, and the Political Work Department of the Central Military Commission have jointly organized a national selection and commendation event for moral role models every two years. These initiatives have vigorously promoted the cultivation and practice of socialist core values, fully leveraged the exemplary and leading role of moral role models, carried forward traditional Chinese virtues, fostered new trends and a fresh ethos for the times, and continuously raised the ideological awareness, moral standards, and civilizational qualities of the people. The goal is to encourage everyone to become practitioners of noble morality, guardians of civilized conduct, and creators of a better life, thereby fostering a robust social atmosphere characterized by reverence for virtue and goodness, emulation of the virtuous, and the universal application of moral principles. With the approval of central leaders, we are now launching the ninth national selection and commendation event for moral role models. The relevant details are hereby notified as follows.

BEIJING, Nov. 19 (Xinhua) — In order to vigorously cultivate and practice the core socialist values, carry forward traditional Chinese virtues, and foster a new ethos and appearance for our times, the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, the Office of the Central Commission for Spiritual Civilization, the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, the Communist Youth League Central Committee, the All-China Women’s Federation, and the Political Work Department of the Central Military Commission have recently issued the “Notice on the Selection and Commendation of the Ninth National Role Models of Morality” (the full text of which is distributed separately) along with the Implementation Measures, thereby launching the selection and commendation of the ninth cohort of national role models of morality. The notice calls for extensive campaigns to study and promote these role models, guiding the public to admire, learn from, and strive to become role models of morality, so as to foster a robust social atmosphere characterized by reverence for virtue and goodness, emulation of the virtuous, and the pursuit of moral excellence in all spheres of life.
