10. Building Vibration Testing

Background: When a building is subjected to vibrations of unknown origin; when indoor instruments and equipment in the building have stringent vibration requirements; or when it is necessary to characterize the vibration behavior of critical structural components.

Job Responsibilities: Determine the vibration characteristics and response of a building, identify and locate external vibration sources, and assess the extent to which vibrations affect the structural safety or functional performance of the building.

Function: Basis for reducing and mitigating unidentified building vibrations, monitoring and minimizing the impact of building vibrations on instrumentation and equipment, and resolving related disputes.
